Edinburgh and Aberdeen come up 'Donald Trumps' in millionaires list

The figures are out, and the Scottish cities of Edinburgh and Aberdeen have beaten London to the top of the latest ‘Millionaire Neighbourhood Report’. London still dominates the chart however, with no less than nine locations featuring in the list of Top 20 postcode areas.
The full report compiled by marketing and consumer intelligence specialist EuroDirect – launched today – details the Top 100 postcode areas where the UK’s millionaires reside, and provides insight into who these people are in ‘The Millionaires Profile’.
EH4 in Edinburgh, which includes Blackhall and Barnton, tops the chart with 277 millionaires, closely followed by AB15 in Aberdeen where a further 240 of the financially elite reside (in areas such as Blacktop and Kingswells). London fights back however, with Hampstead (NW3) and Wimbledon (SW19) sitting in 3rd and 4th place, with 225 and 222 millionaires in residence respectively.
In fact SL6 in Maidenhead is the only post area to make it into the top 10 that isn’t located within London or one of the Scottish cities of Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow. Its 174 millionaires help it to achieve 9 th place in the chart.

By analysing demographic data on all the millionaires throughout the UK, EuroDirect has been able to provide an average profile of who these people are. Surprisingly only 27% are registered as Company Directors, and there is a practically even split between male and female millionaires.
The Millionaires Profile:
- Aged 45 years plus
- 54% Male, 46% Female
- Nearly 40% are single or living as unmarried couples
- Living in homes ranging from council tax band ‘E’ to ‘H’
- Only 27% are registered as Company Directors
Outside of the top 10, the next post area outside of London or Scotland is AL5 – Harpenden in Hertfordshire – which sits at joint 13 th place alongside SW6 in London (Fulham), both with 147 millionaire residents. Leatherhead (specifically KT22) in Surrey also makes the top 20, its 146 millionaires bringing it in joint 15 th place with London’s SW15.

The ‘Millionaire Neighbourhood Report’ reveals that just 51 post areas in towns and cities across the UK are home to 100 or more millionaires. In fact, only the top five post areas have more than 200 of these highly affluent people in residence.
The report has been complied from EuroDirect’s ‘Millionaire’s Club’ database, which has been built from the capture of over 12 million shareholder records from the registers of FT Top 500 companies. By calculating the value of shares held in every company for each individual investor, EuroDirect has been able to identify over six million affluent investors, and over 50,000 millionaires.
