Research shows cash-strapped Britons are cancelling travel plans in favour of UK breaks
A third of UK consumers (33%) won’t be browsing through holiday brochures this summer, research released today by Callcredit Marketing Solutions reveals. Many consumers plan to take advantage of the hot weather predicted for the UK this year by shunning foreign climes and visiting places they can reach easily from home, such as the newly coined ‘Costa Del Southend’.
Londoners in particular are scaling back their plans, with almost half (47%) scrapping their holiday plans abroad in favour of staying in the UK.
However, the good news for holiday companies is that youngsters aged 25-29 are proving more belligerent, and are the least likely to let money worries get in the way of their beach breaks this year.
